Image Tools

Image operations for masking, cropping, resizing, upscaling, and refining still assets from History.

Tool palette

The image tool palette lives in the History workspace. Pick the operation that matches the next change you want, adjust its options, then apply it from the tool panel or run a prompt operation from the Prompt Box.

Image tools are non-destructive. Applying crop, resize, upscale, or a prompt operation creates a new History entry so the original entry remains available.

Mask tool

Use Mask when a prompt operation should affect only part of the image. Paint a mask manually with the brush, switch to the eraser when needed, and adjust the brush size while you work.

After a mask is ready, use the Prompt Box or the radial operation menu to choose an operation such as Detail. The active mask is passed into the operation when the selected model supports mask-based work.

Auto-detect masks

The Mask tool can detect faces, people, or hands and turn selected detections into a mask. Choose whether detected areas should be drawn as boxes or as segments that trace the detected subject more closely.

Detected candidates can be selected before the mask is applied. In the example below, three faces were detected and two were selected.

Auto-detect is useful when you want a fast face, person, or hand mask without painting the full region yourself.

Crop tool

Use Crop to define a new image frame. You can free-crop by dragging the crop handles, or choose preset ratio groups such as SDXL, Flux, and common social media formats.

Applying the crop creates a new image entry based on the selected crop area.

Resize tool

Use Resize when you need a different output size without changing the image through a generative model. The preview updates live as you change the target size or ratio settings.

When ratio options are expanded, the settings panel can push the preview lower in the tool panel. Apply creates a new resized entry.

Ratio presets fill more of the panel, but the live preview remains available before you apply the resize.

Upscale tool

Use Upscale to enlarge the selected image. If no upscale model is selected, the tool behaves like a simple scale-up. If an upscale model is selected, Cubric Vision uses that model and can produce a better enlarged result depending on the model.

Applying the upscale creates a new image entry.

Selecting an upscale model routes the operation through that model for improved results when the model is suitable.

Latent previews

When a ComfyUI operation is running, Cubric Vision can show latent previews as intermediate frames come back from the engine. These previews help you see whether a long operation is moving in the right direction before the final result appears.

Common image operations

  • Text-to-image. Create a base image from a prompt.
  • Image-to-image. Rework an existing image while keeping some of its structure.
  • Detailer / masking. Repair or refine a selected region such as a face, hand, or object.
  • Upscale. Enlarge a chosen result for sharper output.
